1. Office Hours

Our consular office is open to the public on every Tuesday and Thursday from 09:00am to 12:00pm, except for Chinese public holidays.

2. Consular Services

•  Application for regular passports, travel documents, and qualification of pension claim: Please apply online via the "China Consular Affairs" mobile APP, and submit the necessary documents at the consulate. All applicants are required to make an appointment with the consular office in advance before their arrival.

• Application for consular authentication, diplomatic/service passports, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region entry permits, remote video notarization, diplomatic/courtesy/service visa will only be accepted on an appointment basis. 

3. Appointment

Please specify the required consular service and send the necessary documents to the email for preview: capetown_hz@csm.mfa.gov.cn. Please name the subject of the email as "Name + Type of Application + Mobile Number".  A confirmation email will be sent to the applicant with the appointment date and time. If the applicant has not made an appointment in advance or has not arrived on the confirmed date and time, the application will be rejected.

4. Important Notes

• The consular district of the Chinese Consulate in Cape Town includes Western Cape, Eastern Cape, and Northern Cape Provinces. Those applicants who reside in the above-mentioned area can submit their application at the Chinese Consulate in Cape Town. 

• Before entering the consular office, applicants are requested to cooperate with security personnel for a routine security check. Face masks should be worn indoors at all times.

• The Cape Town Visa Office of the Johannesburg Chinese Visa Application Service Center is not yet in operation. All ordinary passport holders who reside within the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, and Northern Cape Provinces are required to submit their visa application at the Johannesburg Visa Office.
