Consul-General Mr. Shi Weiqiang attended the welcoming party for the new Chinese students of 2006 by Chinese Students Society of UWC.

  On 17 FEB 2006, Consul-General Mr. Shi Weiqiang attended the welcoming party for the new Chinese students of 2006 by Chinese Students Society of University of Western Cape (CSSUWC). Mr. Shi greeted students warmly and extended the best wishes to them. He also hoped students to cherish the precious opportunities, study hard and achieve the accomplishment. He reminded students to abide by local laws and respect tradition and common practices of local communities. Meanwhile, students need to be cautious about personal safety. 

  On behalf of Chinese Consulate General, Mr.Shi also gave a small amount of donation to the CSSUWC to support the student activities.

  Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Ridge, as the representative of UWC, highly appreciated the Chinese students as a dynamic youth elite of UWC. In the background of multi-culture mergence on the campus, the Chinese students have been always playing an important role.  

  The wonderful program performed by the Chinese students  were warmly applauded. Some representatives of local Chinese community, Association for All Africa Peaceful Unification Cape Town Branch, Association for Chinese in Cape Town,   "the Republic of South Africa Friends Associations", Ms Chen Qianhui, member of the national parliament and the Chinese students of UWC about 150 in total attended the party.
