Mr.Shi Weiqiang, Consul-General of the Chinese Consulate General attended the opening ceremony of the 1st Cape Town Chinese Art Exhibition

 On April 20th, Consul General Mr. Shi Weiqiang attended the opening ceremony of the 1st Cape Town Chinese Art Exhibition.

Mr. Shi warmly greeted the artists from China, appreciated their efforts for promotion of cultrual exchanges between China and SA s. The Chinese distinctive culture with a long history should play an important role in the cultural exchanges betweenthe two countrie, which would enhance the mutual understanding and further development of the relations of the two countries'. He also hoped the artists of two countries would learn from each other by exchanging views.

The art exhibition was hosted by Cape Asianface Communications CC, co-hosted by Tracy Miller CC and Artscape.

 The distinguished painter Mr.Tong Changxin donated a Chinese traditional painting "Jiuzhai Views" to the Chinese Consulate.

Ms.Tang Guizhi, Vice- Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General, 15 artists from China, representatives of Chinese communities and students, altogether about 50 guests attended the ceremony.
