S African president to seek trade concessions in China

JOHANNESBURG, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- South African President Jacob Zuma will be trying to persuade China to concede to more favorable trade concessions during his Aug. 24-26 official visit to the Asian giant, Business Day newspaper in Johannesburg said on Monday.

China is South Africa's single largest trading partner. This visit is Zuma's second this month to a major emerging market economy. He was invited by the Russian Federation as the federation trys to regain lost ground in Africa. Last month Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva visited South Africa.

China and Russia both belong to the Bric (Brazil, Russia, India and China) bloc. They are also members of the United Nations Security Council. South Africa aspires to become a permanent member of the council.
