Peace and cooperation top China's diplomacy

BEIJING, March 6 (Xinhuanet) -- China’s Foreign Minister has reaffirmed China’s determination to maintain world peace and pursue cooperation with other members of the international community. Yang Jiechi was speaking to the press at the ongoing National People’s Congress session.

2011 was not a peaceful year for parts of the world, especially in the Middle East, the scene of social unrest, political turmoil, and nuclear crisis. But despite some differences, Yang Jiechi said China shares the common concerns of other nations involved.

Recently, China has aroused controversy over its veto of bills raised by some western countries at international meetings. Yang took the occasion to reaffirm China’s position on resolving problems by following international rules.

Once again, Yang reiterated China’s will to pursue world peace, and global and regional cooperation and stability, especially in the Asia-Pacific Region. And with its fast growing development, China will take more measures to protect the interests of its nation and its people.
