On May 20, 2026, Ren Faqiang, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Cape Town, paid a visit to Wesgro. He met and discussed with Ms Wrenelle Stander, Chief Executive Officer of Wesgro, and exchanged views on strengthening trade cooperation and exchanges between China and South Africa. 

Consul General Ren praised Wesgro for its contributions to promote China-South Africa economic and trade cooperation, highlighted China's zero-tariff preferential policies implemented for South Africa and other African countries, and stated that the Consulate General would continue to provide services and support for practical cooperation in the bilateral economic and trade sectors.

Ms Stander welcomed Consul General Ren's visit, expressed her willingness to work together to further deepen bilateral  practical economic and trade collaboration, as well as people-to-people exchanges.
