On 14 July 2026, the 8th China Tex Premium Exhibition (South Africa) grandly opened at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. Consul General Ren Faqiang was invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony and deliver a speech. Also present were Alderman James Vos, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Economic Growth, City of Cape Town; and Dr Ashraf Khodjaev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to South Africa, among other gustes.

Consul General Ren Faqiang stated that South Africa is China’s largest trading partner in Africa. The textile industry represents a traditional area for China-South Africa economic and trade cooperation, featuring strong complementarity and enormous potential. China has fully implemented zero-tariff policy for the 53 African countries with which it has established diplomatic relations, including South Africa. This will substantially cut export costs for South African textile enterprises, expand their access to the Chinese market and unleash greater trade momentum. He wished all exhibitors could source satisfactory products and achieve mutually beneficial results.

Nearly 150 manufacturers, purchasers and industry professionals from China, South Africa, Uzbekistan and other countries and regions gathered at this exhibition. Consul General Ren Faqiang toured relevant booths and held conversations with Chinese and South African exhibitors.
