On October 16, 2026, Ren Faqiang, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Cape Town, attended the inaugural CATL Tech Day event hosted by Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited(CATL) in Cape Town, South Africa and delivered a speech. He exchanged views with Chinese and foreign guests on deepening cooperation in battery industry and new energy technology innovation and development between China and South Africa. 

Consul General Ren highlighted that CATL is leading the global battery industry new energy technology development and application, encouraged CATL to make more contributions to new energy cooperation between China and South Africa as well as between China and Africa. He also emphasized the Consulate General would continue to support the scientific research innovation cooperation new energy fields between China and South Africa.
