Chinese modernization is like a magnificent and colorful scroll, blending the rich heritage of an ancient civilization with the dynamic energy of modern innovation. It is transforming lives and pushing the boundaries of development at an unprecedented pace. We believe that everyone who follows China’s progress and cherishes life has a unique perspective and emotional connection to "Chinese modernization." To this end, the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Cape Town is excited to announce the "Chinese Modernization in My Eyes" short video contest. We warmly invite everyone to participate with enthusiasm!

Participants are encouraged to explore and reflect on the theme from various angles—such as economy, science and technology, culture, energy, and social development—and capture their vision of "Chinese modernization" through creative short videos.

Here are the key details for participation:

I. Submission Requirements

1.Originality and Content: Videos must be original works. Content should be positive, wholesome, and based on true, reliable information (non-AI-generated videos). There are no restrictions on style or subject matter.

2.Language and Labeling: Each video must include its title and creation date. The language can be Chinese or English, with voice-over or subtitles permitted.

3.Duration and Quality: Videos should be between 40 seconds and 2 minutes long. The footage must be clear, stable, and suitable for sharing on short video platforms.

II. Submission Details

1.How to Submit: Send your video entries to the designated email address: capetown@csm.mfa.gov.cn.

2.Email Subject Format: Use "[Chinese Modernization in My Eyes] - [Creator's Name] - [Video Theme]".

3.Required Information: Include your personal details (name and contact information—phone number or email address) and a description of the video. The description should cover the shooting time, location, creative inspiration, and the aspects of Chinese modernization you aim to convey.

III. Contest Schedule

1.Video Submission: Open now through July 31, 2025.

2.Review Period: August 1 – August 31, 2025.

3.Video Display: Outstanding videos will be showcased in August 2025 on our X account (@ChnConsulateCPT) and TikTok account (@Chineseconsulateincpt). Stay tuned!

4.Result Announcement: Winners will be announced in September 2025 on the Consulate’s official website, followed by an award ceremony.

IV. Awards

· First Prize: 1 winner – 5,000 Rand, a prize item, and a certificate of honor.

· Second Prize: 2 winners – 3,000 Rand each, a prize item, and a certificate of honor.

· Third Prize: 5 winners – 2,000 Rand each, a prize item, and a certificate of honor.

· Excellence Award: Several winners – a prize item and a certificate of honor.
