On 7 August 2026, the Chinese Consulate General in Cape Town hosted a reception themed “She Power for Shared Future” to mark National Women’s Day. Consul General Ren Faqiang,Didiza, Speaker of the National Assembly of South Africa, and Molokomme, Programming Whip of the National Council of Provinces of South Africa, together with women representatives from various sectors, attended the event.

In his remarks, Consul General Ren extended festive greetings to women in China and South Africa. He reviewed achievements in women’s causes in both countries, and stated that China stands ready to work hand-in-hand with South Africa to write a new chapter in promoting cooperation on women and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Speaker Didiza reflected on South Africa’s struggle for women’s equal rights in her address. She hoped that China and South Africa will further expand cooperation in advancing women’s well-being and safeguarding women’s rights and interests

The reception was imbued with a warm and festive atmosphere. Performances on the guzheng and flute drew rounds of applause. Guests immersed themselves in intangible Chinese cultural heritage and folk traditions, including Chinese tea, rubbing art, and dumpling-making.
